Rare 1904 St.Louis Worlds Fair Bevel Glass Jewelry Box

Very rare 1904 St. Louis Worlds Fair Beveled Glass and Brass Jewelry Box. Souvenir of Louisiana Purchase Exposition. This item is shown in Henderschott as item 11-290. It is 2 3/4" high and 3" x 3" across. The top has a vivid multicolored likeness of Festival Hall and Cascade Gardens under a beveled glass panel. It is identified as such with "CASCADE" on the left side of the dome of the building and "GARDENS" on the right in block letters. Arched above the dome is "ST. LOUIS 1904" in block letters. The vignette is remarkable in that it has an irredescent overlay on portions of the scene that send a shimmering wave down the cascade and in the pools at the left and right of the building above the lagoon. Please see the pictures, though they don't do this vignette justice. The sides of the box are 4 identical arched beveled panels. All of the panels are securely held by myriads of small leaf-like fingers. It has four stamped brass legs. The brass clasp works. When opened, the underside of the lid is a mirror. The bottom of th interior is tufted satin with satin buttons. One of the buttons is missing, and the satin fabric has darkened, from what I assume to have been white, with age. I use USPS Priority Mail to ship items unless otherwise noted. I pack everything carefully, but Buyer assumes responsibility for the item once it is turned over to the carrier.
