*RARE* 1924 Tampa Gasparilla Item Jose Gaspar Krewe

Early Tampa Gasparilla invitation to the Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla 16 th annual Coronation and Ball, at the Tampa Casino, February 5 th , 1924. The Tampa Casino is no longer in existence. This is truly a rare piece of Tampa history. The Gasparilla invasion and parade still takes place annually and is truly a spectacle. The pirate, Jose Gaspar, takes over the city, holds the Mayor hostage and his band of pirates roam thru the city. Thousands of people from all over Florida , pour in to the city during this event. T is a huge parade and a flotilla of boats escorts the pirate ship thru Tampa Bay.

This full color announcement card depicts Jose Gaspar at the helm of his pirate ship. The shipâe(tm)s wheel rotates to reveal the event, date, time and place. This announcement card is in perfect condition with only minor smudges on the reverse. This announcement comes with the original mailing envelope, which depicts the ocean with a pirate ship in the background and a floating chest in the foreground. The envelope is soiled on the back and on the flap is slightly torn.

This came out of the estate of a prominent Tampa family and is a one of a kind item, likely never to be offered again.
