Rare ORIGINAL Timo Sarpaneva

Cast Iron & Wood Pot

Designed for W. Rosenlew & Co. of Finland , Circa 1959

Up for auction and offered without reserve is a rare and original cast iron and wood pot or casserole designed by Timo Sarpaneva, circa 1959. This famous and innovative Sarpaneva pot has won several design awards (see write up below for more information). Cast iron pot was designed by Sarpaneva and manufactured by W. Rosenlew & Co. of Finland and is clearly marked on the bottom with their logo R with a crown. Approximate pot measurements are; 7 1/8" high to the top of the side handles, 8 ½" across the top opening and 6 3/8" across the base. Pot is in very good used condition. White enamel interior shows crazing on the bottom but is still lovely and smooth. T are some scuff marks and wear consistent with age and use. Pot has its original teak handle. I have not attempted to oil handle or clean casserole with any products, it is in complete original condition. This pot is pictured in Miller's Buyer's Guide 20 th -Century Design (2003 edition) on page 231 and at that time had a value of $250.00 to $320.00. Pot is also pictured online in The Museum of Modern Art (). A fantastic example of original Danish Modern design.
