Listed in Roselyn Gerson's "Vintage Vanity Bags & Purses" on page 62 as "rare". This knotty pine wooden vanity box, resembles a miniature "hope chest". Trimmed with brass stapping, that is further adorned with copper knobs, handles and latch. The heart shaped copper lock, has it's key and is fully functional. T is also a centered copper 1" x 2" plate on the top for personalization - yet to be engraved. The interior is lined with a padded light green fabric that has an all over "X & O" tone on tone pattern woven into the fabric. T is an oval 4 1/4" by 3 1/4" mirror set into a green metal frame that is screwed into the box lid with two tiny brass screws on either side. The bottom right side has two tubular shaped holes, presumabily for lipstick and a perfume tube. T is a centered half circle between these, presumably for a powder compact. The left side has another half circle centered, presumably for another compact...perhaps rouge. The edge of the left side, has a long narrow slot that one would believe is for a comb. The red & gold foil label, affixed to the bottom exterior, reads "Artboles"? "Pilliod, Swanton, Ohio. Measures 12" wide, by 4" tall (including the decorative copper feet), and 5 3/4" deep.
