is a very rare and seldom seen 1912 - 1918 era Pre-Prohibition "Double Logoed" china match stand - match holder for the Red Raven Splits. This is not a piece of souvenir china; rather, this is the heavyweight type Hotel, Railroad, and Restaurant China. This match stand was most likely used in a tavern, drug store soda fountain, restaurant, hotel, etc., that served "Red Raven" and was used for actual table service. The match stand features one logo on the side that reads "Red Raven Splits" and the other logo reads "Ask the Man". Both logos show the Red Raven holding a bottle of the Red Raven drink. Red Raven was a very famous drink that was also touted as being good for headaches, "lady livers", and nausea. Red Raven was advertised as "Red Raven Splits - The Prince of Aperients", "The Messenger of Health", and "For High Livers". From what I have located, t were several different location around the country that had rights to sell Red Raven, which included Clarksburg Wine & Liquor Co. in Clarksburg West Virginia, Chas. Heim in Houston Texas, and the Neiden - Judson Drug Co. in Salt Lake City Utah. I believe Red Raven was actually made and bottled by the The Duquesne Distributing Co. in Harmarville (Allegany) Pennsylvania. The holder was made by the Warwick China Co. in Wheeling, West Virginia and has their 1912 - 1920 backstamp. The
