Reduced, Gaucho, Hand Made, Rawhide Bolas, Well Made, Old, Vintage, Real Thing.

Offered for sale is an old, vintage, Gaucho, hand made rawhide bolas. Bolas were used by Argentina gauchos, counter part to our cowboys, to catch livestock as we use a lariat today. The bolas are thrown at the animal to wrap and tangle their legs making it unable to run away. This bola has three rawhide covered balls attached to the end of three thongs of twisted rawhide joined together. This is a very nice and unique item, well made and still in nice condition. I acquired this piece with several other pieces from a persons collection or western artifacts who bought them used many years ago. He had keep them in clean, dry, storage for the last 25 years at least. He couldn't remember exactly when he had acquired them or how long he had had them. I have no idea where or when they were made because all I have to go by is his memory. These Bolas are well made and that can be seen by the rawhide twisting and carefully braided ties around the balls. The Bolas Approximate measurements are: Throngs average 5/16 inch in diameter, 2 are 29 inches long, the third, 30 inches long and has the smallest ball which is 2 3/4 inches in diameter. The other balls measure, 2 inches and 2 1/16 inches in diameter. The rawhide is dry but not cracked. It could use some rawhide treatment but I am leaving that up to the new owner.
