Robert Kirby Commercial MIXED GAS Diving Helmet - 60's

You are bidding on a circa 1966 Robert Kirby Commercial Gas Diving Helmet. This helmet is one of 25 produced by Mr. Kirby prior to making a deal with Yokohama Machine Works in Tokyo to manufacture the hat in Japan. For more details visit () which is a good site for those interested in not being scammed by all the crap produced as nautical 'collectibles'.
Please notice the plaque on the corseret (breastplate): :
The helmet was one of the first commercially available to use mixed-gas (helium / oxygen) to enable the diver to exceed 220' without severe time limitations and the debilitating effects of nitrogen narcosis. The bonnet is empty, missing the sodasorb canister (the 'tube' in the back which absorbs CO2) and no communications. All the 'lights' (windows) are Plexiglas and can be removed. The bonnet rotates freely on the corseret and can be removed. I have been in possession of the hat since 1975, no history available prior to then. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I was in the diving business from '75 to '85 and can answer questions regarding the business.
