Gordon Hope Grant was born in San Francisco in 1875. He studied at Lambeth and Heatherly Art School in London. He was an associate member of the National Academy of Design, a member of Allied Artists of American, Society of American Etchers, Chicago Society of Etchers, American Watercolor Society, Philadelphia Watercolor Club, California Print Makers and the Salmagundi Club. He exhibited with these institutions, winning prizes on many occasions and received a medal at the Paris Salon of 1937.
