ROSEVILLE Rosecraft HEXAGON Wall POCKET Brown Vintage

Up for auction is a once in a lifetime find that was almost put in the yardsale box. I found this wall pocket this week at an estate sale....it was covered with gaudy gold paint....see bottom photo for reference on its prior look. Luckily, I decided to try to decipher the mark on the back first. The very helpful people here on the pottery board told me I had a piece of Roseville pottery and that I should attempt to remove the paint. I soaked and rubbed for 2 hours and uncovered the original glaze. I am told that this is from the Roseville Rosecraft Hexagon line dating to 1924. This is a muted dark brown with orange underglaze. It has one chip on the tip, two chips on the back at the corners and a tiny flake on the very edge on the back. Only the chip from the tip is noticeable when against a wall. It could probably be fixed with a little brown paint. There are also a few tiny flecks of remaining gold paint. With a little more work these would probably come loose as well. The interior still has a bit of gold paint too. You will not see it when hanging. This auction is for the brown wall pocket only. The green one is available in another auction .

I found many great items with this estate please take a look at my other auctions.
