Description: An antique, really beautiful plate from Royal Bayreuth, Tettau, Bavaria, c.1902. Slightly oblong and squared-off, it has gilt, art nouveau form cut-outs on 4 corners. With a matte pale cream ground, it has scattered sprays of hand painted white roses with raised enamel highlighting and green leaves. Gorgeous articulation; beautifully made. Signed by the artist on the front, it looks like "A. Kinert"? See photos...
Dimensions: 10 3/8" x 10 1/8"
Markings: On the back: stamped in blue, the old Royal Bayreuth mark (dating it to c.1902) hand written in gold, "Hand painted _vory" (see photos - I can't list this word or eBay kicks my listing out) impressed, "Deponiert" (German for 'registered')
Condition: Excellent. No breaks, crazing or discoloration. T's some paint fading, as well as gilt loss (especially around the perimeter). T's also a small 'scale' chip on the back by one of the handles - see photos. It's noticeable on the back, but barely noticeable on the front.
