Rare Royal Doulton 1940 Derivative Old Charley Sugar Bowl Pattern number D6102. This piece does have an opening in the side as well, so it may have been used as a the indentation for the sugar tongs or spoon. 1This scarce Art Pottery Item was made in England about 1940 During World War II. It is over 70 plus years old. The Sugar Bowl is a companion piece to the Old Charley Teapot that is also rarely seen in the Marketplace. The bowl is only about 2 1/2" tall by 3 1/2" tall. Up for your consideration I have this wonderful original authentic Royal Doulton Toby Mug or Character Jug. This Jug is called Old Charley, and is seen in other pieces of Doulton Ware. This item is in excellent condition. It has been cabinet kept for many, many years by the previous collector. There are no nicks, chips, repairs or crazing.However there is a very slightly seen age crack from long ago down the side (going up and down), to the left side of the open area. Please see pictures for complete discription. The colors are strong not faded and the detail is expertly molded. The Bowl is marked with the Lion & Crown Mark of Royal Doulton , Made in England. This Toby Character Jug Sugar Bowl should be purchased when seen, as one may go a long time to find another one for sale. This is what Royal Doulton considers a "derivative" of their character jug line.
