RPPC White Star Line Steamship OWANA, Great Lakes - NR
This black and white real photo post card pictures the Owana, one of the White Star Line's fleet of five steel steamers that carried passengers on day trips between Port Huron and Detroit, Michigan and Toledo, Ohio with various stops in between. This photo was most likely taken somew along the St. Clair River, possibly near Algonac w lots of people still go to enjoy watching the passing of Great Lakes freighters and other big ships.
This post card is 5 & 3/8 inches by 3 & 3/8 inches. It's in very nice condition with no bent corners and no pin holes. I do see a little bit of surface paper loss on the image, mostly on the bottom, but it's not too bad. This post card has not been mailed; however, on the back t is a brief notation in ink about the Owana. And on the lower portion of the front, this post card is identified as "WHITE STAR LINE STR OWANA, PESHA PHOTO". Based on other similar photos and post cards that were found with this one, I estimate that it could date to around 1910, give or take a few years.
This vintage post card can be shipped to US bidders by First Class Mail for 63 cents. Optional insurance will depend on the final bid amount and t is never a handling fee.
