Superb Georgian Seal - 18K Yellow Gold & Internally Faceted Citrine Deeply Engraved with a Complex Armorial CrestEngland, Circa 1790 One of the finest examples of George III gold and hardstone seals. The large rectangular body and tall handle are elaborately cast and chased overall. The shield of impaled marital arms surmounted by a crest is exceptional. The arms of the wife are quarterly, with her paternal arms shown in the first quarter. Very well preserved and original - no damage and minimal wear. Only "defect" noted is mossy green colored discoloration/residue at the interior periphery of the citrine. Tested at 18 karat Dimensions: approx. 1 3/8" (3.5cm) high x 7/8" (2.3cm) wide x 3/4" (1.9cm) deepGross Weight: 19 grams or .61 troy ounceNOTE: Detailed photographs of the seal face and its impression were transmitted to Timothy Duke of Chester Herald, College of Arms, 130 Queen Victoria Station, London.
