WHITE IRONSTONE PLATE
Wow, this is an embossed shape that I've not seen before and it's SO lovely. Plus it was potted by the only Scottish maker of white ironstone, Robert Cochran. I've pictured the printed potter's mark from the back of the plate.
The embossed pattern is called Arched Wheat and it's so lovely. Plus this is a particularly well embossed, finely detailed example. The wide rim of the plate is embossed with six wide panels of arched wheat stems, grain heads and leaves. At the juncture of the rim and face, t are thirty, small thumb printed impressions. The plate has a diameter of approx 9 3/4". It's a nice heavy plate with a packed weight of three pounds. The condition is very good. T are no chips, cracks or crazing and no stained areas. T is some expected utensil usage evident on the face. It's a fabulous piece of Civil War era white ironstone and t's NO RESERVE. Buyer will please pay the actual cost of mailing and insurance--no handling charge of any kind.
