This Model 1871 Hirshfanger Bayonet is in nice original untouched condition, with its original scabbard. The scabbard shows some wear/scuffing to the leather, but is in solid condition with the back-stitching on seam all nice and tight and intact. The steel fittings on the scabbard just show age, but no rust or dents. The back of throat of the scabbard is marked 13 J. R. 185. Below which and appears to have been crossed out is 15. J.E. 319. The upper numbers of 13. J. R. 185 are also on the cross guard of the Bayonet. The blade of the Bayonet is in excellent condition showing no sharpening, dings or rust. It does have old congealed dried grease or oil. I think that it would clean easily. The blade measures approx. 19 and 11/16 inches long. The bayonet overall out of scabbard measures 24 and 6/16 inches. The black leather grips are held by 5 rivets and are in excellent condition with no noticable wear, cracks or gouges. The bayonet springs works well. The blade is maker marked: GEDR. SIMSON SUHL T is also a couple of proof marks stamped near the button on the pommel of the Bayonet. One mark is 2 letters that are not really legible. The other mark is a Crown with possibly the letter "I" . A very seldom seen bayonet in nice original condition. Guaranteed original. 3 day inspection period with full refund for any reason.Terms: Buyer pays
