The Physica Sacra, concurrently published in Latin & German, is Scheuchzer's famous scientific commentary on the Bible with overall 762 plates on cosmography, paleontology, zoology, botany, anatomy. The Kupfer-Bibel showcases the state of lexicography and of philological methods in the early eighteenth century and provides a select bibliography of recent publications on these subjects. Scheuchzer, 1672-1733, Swiss scholar, physician, chair of physics, professor in mathematics, credited for being one of the fathers of paleontology, died two years prior to the publication of the final volume, a publication process of overall eleven years.
