Up for auction is a chandelier by Gaetano Sciolari from the 1960's - 1970's. The piece is made of brass and lucite with 15 sockets for light bulbs which face up and 18 pieces of lucite which face down and 3 pieces of lucite which face up. The chandelier itself is 26 inches tall and 25 inches wide, it is very striking and imposing in person. With the chain the piece can hang approximately 43 inches from the ceiling. The piece still has its original ceiling plate and the SCIOLARI sticker inside. When found the piece was dirty from dust, cigarette smoke and some grease. I cleaned the piece up a bit, but could definately use some more cleaning. One of the 18 lucite pieces is missing from the bottom and some of the others are scratched due to sitting the piece down on a rough surface, but it really isn't very noticable. T are some spits in the brass of the light sticks and one of the inner support rod end caps is missing, again these really aren't that noticable. The brass has moderate spots, scratchs and dark spots. I would rate the condition as fair - good. When looking at the piece from a distance it is so imposing the imperfections really aren't noticable. Again, this is a vintage item and is far from perfect. For perfect pieces other vendors are offering the piece from $1500 - $3500. My starting bid will be $295.00. !! NO RESERVE!!
