The trunkwas built by The M Langmuir Mfg Co on King street West in Toronto. The company was the largest trunk and bagmaker in Canada for many years. They operated from 1890 to 1960. External dimensions are 15" deep x 22" wide x 39" high . As you can see it is fitted inside with hangars and removable drawers and also fold down compartment for other items. These trunks were designed to take a travelling wardrobe and stand upright in a Liner’s cabin. This was used by my Grandfather when he travelled from Calgary to London in the UK on Business and this would have been before WWII so I guess it dates to be around the mid 1930's. It is well travelled and in reasonable condition considering its age. Then it was used by my Grandmother when she returned to England after the War. This is a hefty piece of work and weighs a lot. I am not sure what it is made of externally but it is some sort of extremely strong hard material with substantial metal caps all round. For an approximately 80 year old item that has travelled many miles it is pretty good shape. Externally there are all the usual scrapes, but it is sound and could easily survive another few trips across the Atlantic. (It adds to the character of the trunk.) It closes extremely securely with the 1 big clip and also has a lock and key. The inside is lined with original good quality
