up for bid is a very beautiful large Sheffield Silver Turkey Platter w/ Dome cover that is 24 1/2" long and 17" wide and 16" high. The platter by itself is 22"long not including the handles, and is 17" wide, and is 4 1/4" high. The dome by itself is 20" long and 14 1/2" wide and 13" high with handle. Without the handle it is 9 1/2" high. It is made in Sheffield England between 1790 - 1820.. This turkey platter and dome is not silver plated, but is a fusion of Silver sheet and copper together, and then shaped to form this beautiful piece of silver. This is a very beautiful turkey set, and has a very beautiful chased design on the dome handle and platter handles and feet. The platter has a screw off plug or cap so it can be filled with hot water to keep the turkey warm.The platter has a well and tree inside so as to drain the juices into the well on one end of the platter. Small spots of copper show on the back of the platter and on one spot on the top, but very small, see photos. The platters bottom is tin lined as it should be for this period. Also the dome is tin lined on the inside. Dome has some very small dings, and a couple very small silver wear spots that shows the copper. The platter has some scratches, or knife markes on the top but doesnt go through the silver to the copper. This is quite a rare item as you just dont see
