Sign Of Aquarius OST LP Psych LSD Acid Archives 1971

“Sign of Aquarius” Adell Records #ASLP 216. White label promo. Review taken from the book“The Acid Archives” from Patrick Lundborg. Seldom seen soundtrack to a hippie exploitation movie better known as “Ghetto Freaks.” This album is dead-on for the scene, with terrific period artwork, amusing liner notes that detail this failed Cleveland version of “Hair,” and swinging groove music inside. With the melting pot approach of the era, there’s several good wah wah-fuzz-organ funk-psych groovers and some shorter ‘musical’ segments reflecting the movie plot. The long “Om Pax Om” (played during the movie’s LSD scene) has a terrific riff and a psychy communal feel with stoned lyrics and flute. A trendy ‘Aquarian’ theme recurs throughout; too bad the movie ended up with a completely unrelated title. The playing is adept and more truly jammy than cheesy; a certain amount of work went into this. A fun artifact that should appeal to both fans of rare exploito, obscure soundtracks, and those looking for rare groove samples. Vinyl is in VG++ condition and does have stereo stickers on the labels. Cover is in VG+ condition. There’s a manufacturing flaw/wrinkle on the rear cover. All seams are intact.
