Signed Robert Lyn Nelson (LL) oil and acrylic on canvas titled `Gracefully Deep Near Wanna`. His vision of life above and below the ocean`s surface launched a successful and widely imitated genre of contemporary art, called the Marine Art Movement, and has become the powerful symbol for one of the most compassionate environmental efforts of our time; the struggle to preserve the life of the sea. A native of southern California, born in 1955, Nelson was a child prodigy who produced drawings of remarkable quality at age three. At thirteen, he was offered scholarships at Chaffey and Mount San Antonio Colleges both of which he attended while still in high school. At fifteen, the first public exhibition of his work was sold out. His first one man show followed two years after. Nelson moved to Maui in 1977, which is the winter home to humpback whales, and where he further developed his talents. Since that time, he has opened studios and galleries in Lahaina, Monterey, Fort Lauderdale and many others. He has also opened a publishing company, now in its fifteenth year, which produces the finest quality mixed media graphics for leading galleries and collectors throughout the world. His work can be seen in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, The Museum of Natural History and the Tongan Royal Palace of King Tupon IV. Site: 40`H x 30`W; Frame:
