Vintage Silvertone 1484 Tube Guitar Amp: This auction is for an original Silvertone "Twin Twelve" guitar amplifier and speaker cabinet. The model 1484, also known as a "piggy back" amp, has a space in the back of the 2 x 12" cabinet to store the amplifier when not in use. The Sears catalog claimed this was a 60 watt amp, using two 6L6GC output tubes. Features included two channels, each with two input jacks and their own volume, bass, and treble controls. Channel two offered effects in the form of reverb and tremolo while channel one was "dry". The combo up for sale today is in good working condition. When I got the amplifier it had all original Silvertone tubes but had been in storage for some time and was used as a "mouse house". I pulled all the tubes, cleaned the sockets, and tested the tubes. One 12AX7 and one 6CG7/6FQ7 had to be replaced. I also cleaned out all the mouse debris and other crud. With the new tubes, the amplifier works great with the exception of the reverb. With the reverb switched On you can hear the pan rattling, but the guitar signal does not go through the reverb pan. From what I hear the reverb on these is pretty bad, but it still could be a simple fix. Everything inside the amp is original as far as I can tell. It really works quite well considering the vintage - t is very little hum and no snap crackle
