6BQ5 SINGLE-ENDED TUBE STEREO AMP and TUNER
Here's an Airline Tube Stereo amp and tuner from an old console. This stereo was working when it was removed from the console a few days before this listing. All controls functioned except AM tuning and sound came from both channels. The FM signal light worked and the stereo sounded very nice. This amp will make a nice tube stereo without spending a great deal.
The chassis is in nice condition. To sound best, most components should be replaced like caps and resistor. This unit was made in 1965 and the caps and resistors are approaching 50 years old. But as it is, it plays fine. The cord is a two prong plug. All the original knobs, the tuner dial faceplate, the stereo faceplate, the FM and AM antennas, mounting hardware and the speaker leads are included. The unit does have some 1/4" RCA jacks for another set of speakers. The turntable inputs on the amp chassis can probably be used for other audio equipment like a CD player or an iPod.
The tubes are nice Japanese-made Raytheon tubes except for one Sylvania 6C9 tube tube. The rectifier is solid state. The power tubes are 6BQ5 tubes that put out about 4 or 5 watts per channel.
