A Fine copy of the first edition, first printing, in the Publisher's original gray wrappers, SIGNED AND DATED ("1985") BY ODYSSEUS ELYTIS on the title page; one of only 350 copies of this collection of poetry printed. [Text in English] Greek Poet Odysseus Elytis (the pen name of Odysseus Alepoudhiéis) published his first poem (1935) at the encouragement of, among others, his friend George Seferis, winner of the 1963 Nobel Prize in Literature, was soon thereafter was praised as an important writer, and ultimately won the 1979 Nobel Prize in Literature "for his poetry, which, against the background of Greek tradition, depicts with sensuous strength and intellectual clear-sightedness modern man's struggle for freedom and creativeness". Signed copies of this Nobel Prize winner's works are quite scarce to the market, especially in English translation.
