The Smart StickThe Smart Stickis a training tool with a two-fold purpose. Essentially, the main part of this compact device is a tube with bright green lasers beaming out at both ends that a player swings as if he’s holding a club. The lasers trace a linealong the ground that the golfer needs to keep the path on while swinging, to let him know that the “shaft” is at the proper angle throughout the swing. This continual visual feedback teaches a golfer the proper swing plane and thus will help eliminate hooks and slices through instant feedback. The built-in industrial lasers – utilized by the U.S. military on many of its rifles – are powerful enough to be used outdoors in bright sunlight with the beam clearly displayed on the grass. Meanwhile, the Smart Stick’s wrist bar teaches golfers to keep their left wrist flat at the top of the swing, how to hinge their wrist 90 degrees, and how to maintain clubhead lag on the downswing. The product was originally the idea of renowned PGA Teaching Professional Martin Hall, who had made a crude version to help him teach on the lesson tee.
