sts6-001 Space Shuttle Challenger over JSC 8 x 10 Photograph on Fujifilm Paper Mounted atop NASA-905, the Boeing 747 based Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, the Shuttle Challenger flies over NASA Johnson Space Center during its return to Kennedy Space Center after Mission STS-6. Launched April 4th, 1983, mission STS-6 was the sixth space shuttle mission, and was the first mission for the Space Shuttle Challenger. It was crewed by former Skylab astronaut Commander Paul Weitz, Pilot Karol J. Bobko, and Mission Specialists Donald H. Peterson and Story Musgrave.
