Today I will be listing 2 violins in 2 different auctions. Both will need work and if you win both you can save BIG on combined shipping. I know very little about violins so I will include lots of pictures and feel free to ask questions. So up first is this antique Violin that is signed on the back "STAINER". It also has a label on the inside that you can see close up inpictures #5 and #6 with the same name and what looks like the date 1711. The violin comes with this case, a bow, a tailpiece, a bridge and a chin rest that is missing the bottom clip. Now I have no idea what size this violin is and I guess it could be a viola but as far as measurements go they are: 23.5" from top to bottom; fretboard about 5.25" to the nut if it were t Wihtout the knut about 5.5" long. The body is about 14.25" long. Not sure else what to measure so if you need a more specific measurement please ask. It looks like 3 of the tuners match and seem right and one does not match and seems wrong. The fretboard and nut is missing and I see several faint splits across the top that look like they have been repaired and some perhaps not. Not really sure what else to say except that the violin has general wear as pictured and I am sure it will need a good deal of repair to get it working optimally.
