This listing is for an earlyMissouri Stoneware Crock and has the impressed markof the potter, “FROM EDWARDS & MINISH CALHOUN, (the following MISSOURI can not be seen)”. Edwards & Minish made these jugs in Calhoun, Missouri circa 1880’s. This is clearly an old hand thrown crock, with wonderful finger groove marks inside. It has a wonderful rich glossy coffee colored glaze. This classic old crock is about 8” tall x 7 1/2” diameter, making it about a gallon jug. It is in incredibly great condition with no cracks. The bottom is glazed over so I believe when this was fired it was set upside down, so the glaze along the top edge opening was cleaned off or left behind when it was removed, because there is consistently no glaze along the top edge. There is a small chip to the bottom edge that was glazed over at the kiln and a few other very small chips and scratches. This would make a great addition to any collection of antique stoneware or would be a welcome addition to any décor. Please review extensive photographs for condition and features.
