The late, great Larry Fry, dubbed these rare small base Perkiomens, "button base" Perks. They are rare, as I have only seen a handful in 30+ years of collecting. Their defining feature is a base that is small, relative to the overall size of the blade. I remember one of Larry favorite Perkiomens was a 6" brown Jasper one with a tiny "button base" found on a farm along the Susquehanna in Washington boro, where Larrys farm was. I believe it sold for about $5k when his collection went to auction after his death. This Perk is made of a pretty burgundy colored Jasper with some greyish hues. Beautiful Perk, but it does have an ancient gash out of the edge of one of the shoulders. Would easily be a $200+ Perk, if it didnt have that. Measures 2" x 1 1/4". Ex. Ed Stecewicz collection. SE Pa or NJ find.
