This auction is for a very rare piece of art pottery. I was fortunate to find two pieces at a local estate. They were made by Theo and Susan Harlander. The backsre signed T S H Canada Brooklin Ontario. I went on line and found this information at http://www.canadianpottery.ca/Harlanderinfo.html it reads: Theo and susan Harlander worked in Brooklin, Ontario. The pottery began in the 1930s and they were in business for several decades. They had a small studio pottery and made unique, one-off pieces, often using the names and images of specific clientele. Their work has strong influences from Scandinavia and the folk-art genre, and their forms range from cake plates to clocks to figural sculpture. Their glazes, are primarily made up of mid-century colours such as ochre and turquoise. Although little is known about the pottery, all Harlander is highly sought after and pieces can range from $50.00 to many thousands. This auctions is for a large ashtray. It has large rest spots that would accomodate a cigar. It measures 8" across. It has a few scratches and and flecks in the glaze but nothing that detracts from the grandness of this very rare piece. It has no chips, cracks or repairs. Winning bidder to pay for $8.85 shipping. Insurance is additional and will be added at the end of the auction. However, Delivery confirmation is mandatory
