"Swedish Nightingale" Jenny Lind cdv & ALS!"Swedish Nightingale" Jenny Lind cdv & ALS! Jenny Lind was truly one of the most famous musical icons of the mid 1800's.Lind's American concert tours with the famous P. T. Barnum made Lind more popular than she was already in Europe.Lind married her accompanist, Otto Goldschmidt, and eventually moved to Malvern, England to raise her family.Four page ALS signed "J. L. Goldschmidt" and written on imprinted letterhead.Very hard to decipher her writing, but her signature is bold on the last page.There is a minor repair near the top, affecting nothing. Cdv of Lind is hand colored and has a London b/m.Excellent pair of Jenny Lind related items!"Stephen Foster might have missed opera singer Jenny Lind's performance in Pittsburgh in the spring of 1851, but he couldn't have missed the impact of the so-called "Swedish Nightingale" on the American music scene. Born October 6, 1820 in Stockholm, Sweden, Jenny Lind had conquered the capitals of Europe before she turned 30. The talented soprano could sing in a range from the B below middle C to high G, but it may have been Lind's vocal purity and humble presentation that caused Queen Victoria to throw flowers at her feet.Although most Americans had never heard of Lind, none other than master showman P.
