TALES Edgar Allen (Allan) Poe 1930s World Syndicate

Possibly more a curiosity than a collectible, this edition of Poe's TALES has his middle name spelled "Allen" rather than the apparently more accepted "Allan"; also t is a colorful gift-inscription on the first page dated 1937, the only date on the book.

Judgjng by the book's appearance, this is a 1930s edition, at the latest. All the pages, including the end ones and inside boards are quite yellowed and this color is well-captured on the scans, actually adding to the charm of this old volume.

The boards are textured black cloth which is very lightly rubbed around the edges, corners and spine ends, but only rubbed through a bit on the bottom back corner. The embossed red border around the front board and front board lettering are quite dimmed with age and the lettering on the spine is almost completely gone. No dust jacket. And the pages are unpaginated, strangely, though t is a table of contents (see scan) listng nine stories. The book is flat, tight and clean inside, seemingly an unread copy, hardly opened with mnimal handling except for the rubbed bottom back corner.
