Roman ae Denarius of Trajan , Emperor with Victory Obverse: IMP TRIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS V P P , Laureate head right of Trajan Reverse: SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI, emperor standing facing, grasping spear and parazonium, being crowned by Victory standing left, bearing palm This is a extra fine ae denarius of Trajan. The portrait of Trajan is excellent and the patina is a very attractive dark green with an area brown on the reverse. This is a very unusual example that is about identical to ar denarius of Trajn of the same type. It is 17 millimeters wide and weighs in at 1.9 grams. This choice authentic Roman rarity was found in the Republic of San Marino. Don't miss this one !!! TATER The Roman imperial ae as was reissued under Augustus during the coin reform starting in 23 BC. Generally produced in copper and weighing ususally between 9 and 10 grams although as years went on they became smaller.
