Up for auction is an excellent miniature oil lamp or night lamp from the second half of the 19th century. These were used as night lights to guide one's way to the outhouse or just as a bedside light. Has it's original tin reflector, which has some minor surface rust, but truly minor and should all polish away if desired. Glass has no chips cracks or discolorations. Measures 5.5" H to top of reflector. THis lamp is shown is Smith book I or miniature oil lamps. Probably burnerd whale oil, has a little opening on the side of the tin wick burner, w a wick pick would have been used to pull up the wick. It's a great piece or early lighting.
