2 Original Booklets from the 1951 Governors Conference in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and the 1952 Governors Conference held in Houston , Texas. Includes 17 local newspaper clippings and original autographs of Governors of the time, including Thomas Dewey. The 1951 Book also includes 17 newspaper clipping from the Nashville paper, talking about the conference and the Governors views on current events. The Republican Governors are talking about how Dewey is the man to win and they are opposed to President Truman's New Deal, Social Security and how to curb the Welfare roles from expanding. Not much different that today. There is also a smaller Special Programs booklet for Governors wives . Inside the front cover there are 11 original signatures of Jane Lausche, Howard Thompson, Brady Black, Ralp locher, Robert Vincent are the ones I can read. In the 1952 Houston Texas book there are 10 signatures over the photos of on going governors, Allan Shriver of Texas, Val Peterson of Nebraska, Len Jordon of Idaho, Lawrence Wetherby of Kentucky, Hugh White Of Mississippi, Frank Lausche of Ohio, Bracken Lee of Utah,Carl Skinner of Guam ,Mennen Williams of Michigan, Thomas Dewey of New York, Kerr Scott of North Carolina, Norman Brunsdale of North Dakota, There is also the smaller Official Information Directory, which give the Itinerary of the days.
