THRILLING WONDER STORIES PULP SF/FANTASY MAGAZINE August, 1952 Pulp magazines were published on pulp paper and they get yellow and brittle... small pieces often tend to fall off when handled! This is no different. Their covers' edges are usually ragged (normal, since they overlap the pages a bit). Also, stores used to stamp the date or write other stuff on the covers... no respect!!! In this case the magazine is way above average... so much so that I called "good" instead of "acceptable" ("Acceptable" for a pulp often means "unacceptable," because eBay doesn't have such a category!) The titles, as shown on the cover photograph, are LORDS OF THE MORNING, a short novel by Edmond Hamilton, and CHOLWELL'S CHICKENS, a novelette by Jack Vance; there is also a novelette by Alan E. Nourse, COUNTERFEIT; and there are 4 short stories, including authors Murray Leinster, Jerome Bixby, C. Fritch & P.S. Smith. Orban and Schomburg are among the artists. Sprague de Camp & Fred Chappell If you purchase more than one old magazine or fanzine like this (such as Fantasy Crossroads, for example) you can save on shipping charges: they can be shipped together. ______________ Want to look at my other auctions, usually weird
