Octavo (5.25" x 8.75"), full leather with spine lable titled Noah's Travels . 431 pages plus appendix. Three of five plates present. Lacks folding plate of The Fortress of Goletta near Tunis and the frontispiece portrait of the author.
This copy is lacking the preliminary leaves, title and frontispiece, as well as the folding plate mentioned above. Three others, a view of Algiers, Abdallah American Drogaman and merchant and slave arab, remain. There is light foxing. The book is still tight and sound, and no text is missing. There is a short crack at the front joint and moderate edgewear.
Noah was the US Consulate to Tunis and the first American Jewish diplomate to serve overseas. He gives much insight into daily life and social custom and the political intrigue of the time.
