Offered in this sale is scarce transfer printed Scottish pottery child's dish or cup plate that was made by John Thomson & Sons circa 1840. It is marked on the back with an impressed company stamp which you can see illustrated in the 2nd image. The plate is decorated with an interesting transfer printed scene titled TRIMMING THE KITE which depicts a man or boy fixing a kite that is marked HIGH FLYER while as young girl or lady watches. It measures roughly 4 1/4" in diameter. The condition is very good. It has a couple small kiln marks in the border and there is one small glaze flake on the back edge of the rim which you can see illustrated in the 5th image. Otherwise, there are no other chips, cracks or restoration. Please be sure to enlarge, zoom and inspect each image carefully for a close up view of the detail and the condition.
