This is a rare, early first pattern helmet liner made of compressed fiber covered in OD cloth. This liner was made for the early fixed bale U.S. WW2 combat helmet. Front of liner has cloth cut-out Lt. Colonel's rank. Inside of helmet is also named to original owner: Lt. Colonel Talcott. Please see auction photos. Helmet liner has original early pattern white nylon (non-adjustable) headband that was issued in different sizes. Liner is stamped "LINER FIBRE M-1" on the interior in black lettering. Also included is the original leather chinstrap which is riveted on each side of the helmet liner. Please see auction photos. Exterior of liner has several areas of rust staining from steel pot helmet. Rest of liner exterior shows normal use, wear stains, etc. for age. T is a slight crack on the inside of the front visor that comes partially through to the exterior of the helmet. The white interior headband shows normal wear use. Please see auction photos for best review of helmet condition. This is one of the best and solid 1st Pattern helmet liners we have ever seen. This is a very nice and very rare addition to any U.S. WW2 helmet display or collection!
