Up for auction is a set of 2 uncut obsolete currency sheets from the 1850s. These hung in my Great Grandfathers office in the 1930s and 40s when he was the president of the First Bank of Hatfield in rural Pennsylvania. Unfortunately back then it wasn't considered sacrilege to glue such a collectable to a backing and mount it. Which is exactly what was done. Fortunately it is only glued in the corners of each sheet and shouldn't be to much work if you want to have a paper conservator remove them. Otherwise they do come in the original frame and do look good the way they are mounted. The First sheet is from the West River Bank of Jamaica Vermont and dates from about 1854. There is not a printing date on this sheet but there is a note at the bottom of each sheet telling a little about the bank that printed them. The note on this one says that the bank was chartered in 1853-54 and then the name changed in 1865. The picture on all of the bills incorporates images of U.S. coins and the date on the one dollar coin in the picture is 1854. This sheet consists of a $1,$2, $3, and $5 bill. Since the sheet is only glued in the corners you can carefully pull back the center and see that the number of each bill is also printer on the reverse side. The second sheet is from the Eastern Bank of Alabama from Eufaula Alabama and has a patent date printed
