Unmarked Chittenango Pottery Beer Stein, Early 1900's

You are bidding on a hand-painted pottery stein believed to be from the Chittenango pottery company. The stein is 5 inches in high. This company was establised in the 1890's and was only in business a short time before a fire destroyed the factory. The stein pictures a gentleman with glasses reading the "Madison County Times". The stein depicts a German pipe on other side of stein. The stein is in good shape, with several small paint chips apparent as shown in picture 2 Attached. T appear to be artist initials on the dark brown coat near hand. T are no chips, nicks or cracks of any nature in the stein body itself. Some minor crazing noted inside stein. The pewter lid top is typical from this manufacturer.
