It was certainly very rare to see any 19th century image of a lady in a causal or seductive pose. But this is the case with one Martha Powers Smith in this 1/6th plate tintype. Her idenification is on the back of the image. She is sitting down on the floor leaning against the corner of a wall. She holds something in her hand. In addition she has something on her lap. I have not done any research on this lady which may shed some light on why she is posed this way. But you have to believe she was no house wife. In an attractive Union Case.
