Unusual Double ended opening Edward VII Vest ain the shape of a bookThis a ntique vesta case is commemorative item likely to date from 1902 when Edward VII came to the throne. I am not sure what the vesta is made of it appears to be similar to bakerlite. On the front there is a portrait of the King and on the reverse it has the heraldic moto 'Honi Soit Mal y Pense' which translates to "Shamed be he who thinks evil of it" The back also has a great deal of etching/engraving with roses shamrocks and thistles. The case opens from either end by hinged panels which are both in good order. The vesta case measures approximately 1.5" x 2" It is in super condition for its age and would make an interesting addition to any collection.
