NEW ITEMS LISTED ON A REGULAR BASIS. Description: A 24KT Gold Japanese etched and signed coloured Chokin porcelain display plate. The central panel shows an unusual design depicting two budgerigar/parrots perched in the branches of a Prunus Blossom tree etched into a silver ground. Around the central panel is a deep broad band of 24KT gold. Around the rim of the plate is a double line of 24KT gold. The signature is to the leftt of the tail feathers of the bird on the right hand side and is etched into the picture. A very nice piece and a 'must' for any Chokin collector. The Chokin engravings were originally created to adorn armament of the Samurai Warriors and the art has been handed down over the course of 800 years. Markings: The reverse of the plate is written in gold in the centre and states the following text:"The Art Of ChokinThe images are created by etching pure copper and then gilding it with silver and gold. The engravings were originally created to decorate the armarment of the Samurai Warriors. This art form was handed down for over eight hundred years.24KT Gold edgedMade In Japan" The plate also has it's original 2 Gold coloured labels affixed
