1st. Style Ribbon Indian War Medal This is a older half wrap strike 1st. Style Ribbon Indian War Medal. It is very nice and hard to get. The ribbon to the Indian Wars Medal was originally red with darker red edge stripes. It was changed in 1917 because it was too similar to the French Legion of Honor. Great medal for any collector. The picture shows to front and back. You are bidding on just one of these and that means the auction is for just one. The Office of Indian Affairs, was formed in 1824 , similar agencies had existed in the U.S. government as far back as 1775 , when a trio of Indian agencies were created by the Second Continental Congress . Benjamin Franklin and Patrick Henry were among the early commissioners, who were charged with negotiating treaties with Native Americans and obtaining the neutrality during the American Revolutionary War .
