USA Scott #UO37 Six cent vermillion on white paper "Abraham Lincoln" War Department official cut square issue of 1873 Scott Type UO11 (Neck very long at the back) Printed by George H. Reay Size of the cut square is approximately 40 mm x 42 mm Unused Very fine Light pencil notations on the reverse are usually not removed by us, as they may provide information to the buyer, however those with heavy pencil or inked notations will be noted in the description A customer has inquired why we do not indicate if these cut squares are never hinged. This collection was in a Scott album and 100% were hinged. If there are hinge remnants, we carefully soak them off of the cut square and dry them. If there is only a hinge mark, we do not wash it off. Full corners are an exception, we do not normally wash them even if they have hinge remnants as we do not want to lose the gum on the flap.
