USAF F-100 Super Saber Fighter Jet Canopy Breaker Knife/Egress Tool-Vietnam. This item was recovered in the 1990's from the "Bone Yard" in Tucson, AZ. It was acquired during the dismantling and scrapping out of an F-100 Super Saber Jet. The condition in the pictures are the condition it was in when removed from the aircraft. The white paint stripes are faded. The F-100 Fighter Jet was the longest serving jet that the U.S. military used in the Vietnam War. The F-100 also has the destinction of serving as the first "wild weasel" aircraft in Vietnam. This heavy piece of military history would be a great addition for a military collector or simply used as a paper weight and conversation piece on your desk. This item was used to allow a pilot to escape from his aircraft if the canopy would not open prior to ejection or in the event that the plane crash landed or turned over and blocked the opening of the canopy. The pilot would remove the knife that was located on the right side of the dashboard near the front windscreen and the canopy breaker would be forcibly hammered into the canopy to break the polycarbonate or glass.Included with item will be pictures of the F-100, cockpit and history of the F-100.PayPal only.Shipping and handling in the U.S. will be $15.00 Priorty Mail.
