USAF CV-22 Departs as a Malian Soldier Secures the Landing Zone for Special Operations Forces You are buying a new/unused desert tan colored U.S. Air Force patch (measures a bit over 3.5" tall by 2.5" wide) from the 20th Special Operations Squadron which is part of the 27th Special Operations Wing located at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico . The unit operates the CV-22 Osprey aircraft in support of USAF Special Operations missions. This patch is used exclusively for the desert theater of operations in support of Operations Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Iraqi Freedom (OIF). "The 20th Special Operations Squadron (20th SOS)reactivated Jan15, 2010 at Cannon Air Force Base, NM. It operates the CV-22 Osprey aircraft in support of special operations. The primary mission of the 20th SOS is to conduct day or night low-level penetration into hostile enemy territory, to accomplish infiltration and exfiltration, aerial gunnery support and resupply of special operations forces throughout the world. History The 20th SOS was formed as the 20th Helicopter Squadron (HS) in 1956 to perform traditional helicopter missions with H-21s for the Tactical Air Command.
