RARE USAF EEU-2A PLZT NUCLEAR FLASH GOGGLES for HGU-55 PILOT FLIGHT HELMET

A rare set of Cold War Era EEU-2A Nuclear Flash Goggles manufactured during the 1980's for use by USAF SAC ( Strategic Air Command ) aircrews and pilots for eye protection during the bright flash of nuclear explosion. These goggles are made of sandwich composite of polarized glass with an inner layer of a transparent electro-optic ceramic called PLZT . PLZT is a ceramic material consisting of lead, lanthanum, zirconate, and titante and it can be electronically switched rapidly in polarity with electric current. When linked to an electric current, the lenses are clear, but any dangerous flash of light, such as lightning or a nuclear blast, instantaneously breaks the circuit causing the lenses to go black, protecting the vision of anyone wearing the helmet. These are in excellent condition with no cracksNo overseas shipping. Any questions please ask.
