USAF Erection and Maintenance Instructions for the F-51D (P-51) Mustang

This auction is for a preowned “Erectionand Maintenance Instructions” for the USAF Series F-51D, ZF-51K and F-51M aircraft. It contains detailed information on the construction, maintenance and specifications of the F-51 Mustang for field mechanics. If you were an Air Force mechanic on a base… this book would tell you everything you needed to know about the plane you had to work on. There is a tremendous amount of information regarding this famous aircraft!

The F-51 (Fighter) is the USAF designation of the famed P-51 (Pursuit) of WWII. This particular copy is dated December 20, 1944 with a revision March 9, 1951. Previously a restricted item, it bears a “classification cancelled” stamp dated July 3, 1946. You can see this information in the photos I have attached.

The manual is in good shape for its age although it is yellowed and appears to have been in use as a reference manual to repair aircraft. In fact, the “Model” and “Serial No.” on the front cover have “F-51D” and “44-73666” lightly written in pencil in the space provided. An internet search actually ties the manual to a particular aircraft listed in an accident report at Billy Mitchell Field in Wisconsin. Pretty cool. There are also some mechanic notes on the last page which I have included in the photos as well.

This is a great piece of military aviation history.

Thank you very much for your interest in my listing – whatever you decide to do.

If you do decide to bid though the following are just some… well… guidelines of my auction that I would like to share with you…

Descriptions – I will do my very best to describe my items best I can. Some items I have a better knowledge of than others. As a result I may miss something in the description that is important to you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have and I will gladly answer them for you. But, please ask your questions prior to bidding.

Payments – I would prefer PayPal in all cases. Keep in mind you don’t necessarily have to register with PayPal to use a credit card or E check, this option is on the PayPal page. I will accept cash on items identified as Local Pick Up but I would still prefer PayPal.

Shipping – I generally perform shipping Monday through Friday because of my work schedule. I try to ship the day after the funding is complete. If an auction closes on a Friday, I will ship on the following Monday (providing payment is received).

Shipments will almost always be made using the carrier/method displayed on my auction. However I do reserve the right choose an alternate carrier at the time of shipping. Also, on shipments over $100.00 value, I will require a signature for receipt unless you request otherwise. If you would like a different carrier/method, please contact me at the conclusion of the auction before funding.

I will be happy to consolidate shipments to save on the costs. Again, please let me know of your intent prior to funding at the conclusion of the auction so we can work it out.

Communication – I totally encourage it. We are both looking for a good experience!

I do ask though that if you win an auction, I would appreciate payment within 2-3 days. But at the very least please contact me to let me know your intent.

Please note, if payment is not received in 4 days (without prior arrangements being made), Ebay will automatically open an unpaid item claim.
